The Reina Pepiada, which translates to “Curvy Queen” in English, is a traditional Venezuelan dish with a special place in my country’s culinary tradition. Legend has it that the dish was named in honour of Susana Duijm, a Venezuelan beauty queen who won the title of Miss World in 1955.

The Reina Pepiada is typically made with shredded chicken, creamy avocado, mayonnaise, cilantro, and sometimes onions and peppers. It’s commonly served as a filling for arepas making it a popular street food and comfort dish enjoyed by Venezuelans and food enthusiasts worldwide.

Venezuelan cuisine is rich in flavour and diversity, influenced by indigenous, African, and European culinary traditions. I hope that by trying my Venezuelan Chopped Bagel recipe, you’ll get a taste of Venezuela.

My chopped bagel recipe combines chicken breast, creamy avocados, zesty cilantro, tangy red onions, and light mayonnaise, all nestled inside a delicious bagel. Each bite offers a perfect balance of savoury, creamy, and citrusy flavours.

With simple and readily available ingredients, this recipe is easy to whip up if you want to try something different and quick!

Can I use leftover chicken for this recipe?

Absolutely! Leftover roasted, grilled, or boiled chicken works perfectly for this chopped bagel recipe.
